EODID hosted the 3rd South Eastern Europe Arbitration Conference

We were delighted to host the South Eastern Europe Arbitration Conference (SEEA 2025) on Friday, 28 November, at the Athens Mediation & Arbitration Organization (EODID), as part of this year’s Athens Arbitration Days.

Following a successful edition in Vienna, SEEA returned for its third year – this time in Athens – bringing together practitioners, academics, and institutional representatives from across the South Eastern Europe region. It was an honor for EODID to collaborate with the organizers and to provide a space for meaningful regional dialogue and exchange.

This year’s theme, “Navigating Arbitration Frontiers in SEE: AI, Energy, Investment & Technology Disputes,” set the stage for rich discussions on some of the most pressing issues shaping the future of arbitration, including:

• energy disputes linked to treaty shifts and legacy contracts

• the expanding impact of technology and AI on arbitral practice and institutional responsibilities

• the evolving landscape of investment arbitration amidst geopolitical and regulatory change in the SEE region

Across panels and conversations, speakers highlighted how these developments challenge practitioners to adapt, innovate, and work collaboratively to ensure that arbitration remains a reliable mechanism for resolving complex cross-border disputes.

Hosting SEEA 2025 at EODID was a wonderful opportunity to bring the regional arbitration community together. A big thank-you to the speakers, moderators, and participants who elevated the discussions and energized the conference.

We look forward to the next edition and to continuing to support initiatives that strengthen arbitration practice throughout the region.
