Professional Profile: Mr. Dimitris Kyriazis is an Assistant Professor of EU Law at the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is a practicing Attorney-at-Law before the Supreme Court of Greece (Areios Pagos) with extensive experience in advisory and litigation work, specializing in arbitration, banking law, competition and state aid law, and EU law in general. Since 2022, he is Founding Partner of the law firm Kyriazis Law Firm, based in Kolonaki, Athens. He has served, among other roles, as Special Expert for the Hellenic Competition Commission and as an associate with Freshfields Brussels and Bernitsas Law Firm, Athens.
Mr. Kyriazis has held postdoctoral research positions at the Law School of NKUA and earned his DPhil in Law from the University of Oxford. For his doctoral research, he received the Clarendon Scholarship, the Onassis Scholarship, and a scholarship from the UK Chartered Institute of Taxation. He holds an MPhil in Law from Oxford (Distinction, Light Senior Scholar) and an MJur from Oxford (Distinction, Onassis Scholar, first in class, Clifford Chance Prize). He graduated top of his class from the Law School of NKUA with distinction.
He is a member of the Associated Researchers Group of the European Banking Institute and a Research Fellow in Law at Northeastern University London, where he served as Law School Chair from 2017 to 2020. Previously, he was a Stipendiary Lecturer in Constitutional and EU Law at the University of Oxford and a Teaching Fellow in EU Competition Law at University College London.
