Esin acts as arbitrator and as counsel in arbitration matters, especially focusing on arbitration of M&A transactions. He sits as an arbitrator in arbitral proceedings where parties are domestic and multinational companies, banks, governmental bodies and private equity funds and these proceedings are related to post-M&A disputes, shareholders disputes, disputes arising out of joint venture agreements, disputes arising out of construction agreements and trade and commerce disputes.

Arbitration Experience: Dr. Ismail G. Esin is a member of ICC Turkish National Committee, German Arbitration Institute (DIS), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and holds a seat on the advisory board of the Istanbul Arbitration Center (ISTAC). His experience as arbitrator includes numerous arbitrations under the rules of TOBB, Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and ICC and DIS, as well as ad hoc arbitration.

Professional Career: Dr. Ismail G. Esin started his career as a research assistant at Marmara University, Faculty of Law, Civil Law Department in 1992. He resigned in 1996 and went to Germany to complete his Ph.D. Upon his return in 1997, he founded Esin Attorney Partnership and is still acting as the Managing Partner of the Firm. In 2011, Esin Attorney Partnership joined one of the world’s leading law firms Baker & McKenzie International as Istanbul office. Dr. Ismail G. Esin is mainly specialized in international arbitration and mergers and acquisitions. He is listed as one of the leading lawyers in the International Who’s Who publication for Mergers and Acquisitions, Commercial Arbitration and Commercial Litigation and in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 for Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions and Dispute Resolution. In addition to his career as a lawyer, he also lectured in Marmara University (1997-2004), Istanbul Bilgi University (2002-2009), Galatasaray University (2005-2006) and Yeditepe University (2013-2015) and has authored numerous publications.
